Presentation:
Proudly camped in the garden or wisely leaning against the front of the house, this big guy does not go unnoticed. Radiant, his simple presence is enough to illuminate the decor even when the sky is grey.
Solal comes to us straight from the 19th century and, as often in this period, the filling of the seat is arranged "across", perpendicular to the lower crosspieces.
Generous, he gladly accommodates 3 or 4 people.
Robust, he is built with solid oak and protected by an untinted oil that leaves the wood its natural colour.
The story behind the Solal bench:
His original drawing is taken from an engraving from the first half of the 19th century entitled ‘Meubles rustiques’.
At the time, this term referred to furniture made by the trellis maker from raw logs - i.e. wood covered with its bark - as opposed to solid oak or chestnut, which were then the responsibility of the furniture carpenter and were intended to be painted.
The trellis maker usually used less noble but more flexible species, such as alder, privet, dogwood and even birch, from which he took scions or shoots of the year that he could bend more easily.
That said, it will not have escaped your notice that we have made an exception to this little story because Solal bench is made of solid oak. Firstly to make him last longer and also because we are first and foremost furniture maker!
Finish:
Natural oak oiled
