The story behind the Hortense swing :
Hortense's story coincides with that of the painting « The swing », or ‘Les hasards heureux de l'escarpolette’ in french, painted by Jean-Honoré Fragonard between 1767 and 1768.
Commissioned the artist by Baron de Saint-Julien after the painter Doyen had refused to execute it because he considered the subject too licentious, this work is now part of the Wallace Collection in London.
It is obviously in reference to this painting that we have named our brand .
It was therefore essential to offer you the swing.
As no model existed anymore, we have reinvented it from a typical molding of an 18th century seat, the rest of its design coming from the contemporary use of materials intended for an outdoor use.
